BLS026w Hydrofluoric Acid and Ammonium Fluoride Safety in the Laboratory

This course will cover the UM safety protocols for the safe use and handling of hydrofluoric acid and ammonium fluoride in the research laboratory. Special training is needed because these can cause systemic effects on the body which can lead to death. This training will cover symptoms of skin exposure, mechanism of action, tips for working with HF and NH4F, required personal protective equipment, and what to do in case of exposure or spill.
